Location

The 2018 TAC Workshop will be held in the Administration Building (Building 101), Portrait Room, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) main campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Signs will direct you to the registration area once you are in the Administration Building.

Registration

The standard registration fee with catering is $220 and includes: coffee breaks; dinner on Tuesday, November 13; and transportation to and from NIST and the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center each day. The reduced registration fee without catering is $117 and includes transportation to and from NIST and the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center each day.

The TAC 2018 Workshop notebook is accessible only to workshop attendees and teams that participated in a TAC 2018 track. It is not distributed on any physical media, but is available online at the TAC 2018 Workshop Website.

Conference registration fee receipts are sent to each participant, electronically. If you do not receive a receipt within a few days of registering, please contact Pauline Truong (see contact information below).

Due to increased security, no on-site registrations will be accepted and all attendees must be pre-registered. All TAC workshop attendees must register by November 6, 11:59 PM EDT.

If you are planning to attend the 2018 TAC Workshop and your passport is from: Iran, Sudan, or Syria, you must contact Angela Ellis no later than October 17, as additional information is required from you. If you do not comply with this request you will not be permitted on the NIST grounds.

Communications

The telephone number for contact with the meeting is 301-975-4498. Attendees will not be called out of the meeting to receive telephone calls, except in emergencies.

Wireless Internet

Wireless access to the NIST Visitor's network will be available to participants.

Meals

Continental Breakfasts and Coffee Breaks: Continental breakfast will be served Tuesday and Wednesday at NIST, and refreshments will be available during coffee breaks. This service is available only to attendees who selected standard registration with catering.

Lunch: Lunch is not provided for TAC workshop attendees. Attendees may purchase their own lunch in the NIST cafeteria or leave the campus to purchase lunch. Please see the list of area restaurants. If you leave the NIST campus for lunch, please be prepared to show your conference badge and photo ID upon your return to the NIST campus.

Dinner: A dinner will be held at Guapo's Restaurant, within walking distance of the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center, on Tuesday, November 13. One dinner ticket is included in the cost of the standard workshop registration with catering.

Accommodations

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center at a group rate of $181 per night, plus 15% tax. You may book online using the hotel reservation link below:

Round-trip transportation will be provided between the hotel and NIST each day in the morning and evening. Attendees are encouraged to use this service, as parking at NIST may be limited.

Travel

Super-Shuttle, 1-800-258-3826, and Federal Airport Shuttle, 1-866-721-2929, offer commercial van service from Dulles International, Ronald Reagan National, and Baltimore-Washington International Airports to Gaithersburg. Call for reservations.

The Washington Metro has subway service to Gaithersburg. Metro can be boarded at National Airport. Take a Yellow Line train marked "Mount Vernon Square" to the Gallery Place stop and transfer to a Red Line train marked "Shady Grove" to the Shady Grove station. Service is every 6 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day. The travel time from National Airport to Shady Grove is about 50 minutes. Taxis are available from the Shady Grove Metro station to area hotels.

Due to increased security, NIST no longer allows airport shuttles or taxis on campus. If you make arrangements for an airport shuttle/taxi to pick you up at NIST, you must meet the vehicle at the Visitor Center (Gate A -- Main Gate), which is a 10-minute walk from Building 101. If you require special assistance to get to the Visitor Center from Building 101, please see an attendant at the registration desk.

Access to NIST Campus

• A government-issued photo identification must be presented at the Visitor Center before entering the NIST campus.
• International attendees are required to present a passport to enter the NIST campus.
• US attendees are reminded that under the REAL ID Act of 2005, federal agencies, including NIST, can only accept a state-issued driver's license or identification card for access to federal facilities if issued by states that are REAL ID compliant or have an extension. See the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) site for the current compliance list.
• If you are planning to drive onto the NIST campus, you must present your photo identification and vehicle registration or car rental agreement at the main gate Visitor Center to be admitted to the conference.
• Attendees must wear their conference badge at all times while on the campus.
